“(This is) The Dream of Evan and Chan” by Dntel featuring Ben Gibbard (Superpitcher Kompakt remix)
This is what I know about this song:
I love this song and I always have and I always will.
It was written based on a dream Ben Gibbard had starring Evan Dando and Chan Marshall.
I love this remix more than the original.
I only listen to it during certain times of year, specifically the fall. I call that my transitioning period, the time in which I move away from “traditional” music and become enveloped in anything electronic oriented. There’s something about the cold temperatures combined with the aloof atmosphere of an electronic song, especially one that can be classified in the IDM or minimalist techno category, that works well with my psyche this time of year. I’m sure you’ve noticed the abundance of such posts recently and hopefully you’re not turned off by my sudden transition.
When I listen to this song, I think of my freshman year of college, and how, at the time, it all seemed like a catastrophic mess, but now, in my final year, trying to figure out what I’m going to do with my life and how I’m going to do it, the time seems so perfect. I think about how innocent we were then, how innocent I was then, and how I miss the freedom of innocence. The eagerness to try anything is lost on me now. I miss that.
I’ve been working at start-ups and small businesses since I was 14 years old. My father and his father before him owned and operated their own small businesses. There’s something about the fight for survival for a small team that’s coded in my DNA. It’s one of the reasons I enjoy working at Undercurrent so much. We’re small and thus we’re nimble. We’re lean and thus we’re malleable. And our age and our medium demand both.

Ash “Candy”
its like someone mixed Scott Walker, Dr Dre, and what summer sounds like in a giant bowl and then smoked it.
Don’t expect people to find or discover you. It’s on you to get your work out there and to get people to notice it.
Anything is possible if you’ve got enough nerve.

And now your eyes are getting wider. And now you’re quietly whispering “Holy shit.”
And now you’re waving your hands in the air because you think I won’t predict that next. Nice try.
